Brett & Jill came down for a weekend, while the boy’s went off and played with their kites the girls did what girls do best, shopped, manicured, did lunch and drank a few (too many) cocktails. Lets just say the girls are not allowed to play unsupervised anymore! The highlight this month was our trip to Ireland, the first couple of days we spent in Dublin, seeing Trinity Collage and the book of Kells, The Guinness Store House, General Post Office, Kilmainham Jail, Phoenix Park, and The Jameson Distillery where since it was my birthday I had to do the sampling (and buy a bottle). We stayed at a hostel, Barnacles, in Temple Mead which had great atmosphere, with nice restaurants and cool bars, one night we also crossed the Liffey to watch some Irish dancing. We hired a car for the next part of the trip heading south to Hook head light house, and the Waterford crystal factory, where we took the tour and brought some fine crystal. We stayed the night in Midleton so first thing the next day we were off to the Old Jameson Distillery then off to see the Blarney Stone and get the gift of the gab by giving it a good smooch before heading off to the Cliffs of Moher. After staying just outside of Galway for the night we legged it over to Northern Ireland taking in the Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge then to Belfast. We took a black cab tour the next morning to get an understanding of the strife the had occurred in Belfast over the last 30 odd years, which although I now have an idea of what happen I still do not comprehend it. Back to Dublin for another night before two weary travellers head home to go back to work to rest.
